About the role#
Heidelberg Materials is looking for an Environmental Intern to support our Aggregates and Hot Mix Asphalt operations in eastern Pennsylvania. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will gain hands-on experience by working with environmental and operational professionals. This role involves supporting regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across multiple locations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with environmental compliance activities, inspections, audits, and documentation.
- Support environmental data collection, analysis, reporting, and recordkeeping for permits and sustainability initiatives.
- Partner with operations teams to identify opportunities for environmental improvements and best practices.
- Participate in site visits and field assessments to monitor environmental performance.
- Contribute to projects focused on compliance, resource conservation, reclamation, emissions reduction, and operational efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Natural Resources, Geology, or a related field, having completed at least your sophomore year.
- Interest in environmental compliance, sustainability, and industrial or construction materials operations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn data management systems.

- Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
- This position requires frequent visits to quarry, plant, and production facilities, which involves working in varying weather conditions and adhering to all safety policies and personal protective equipment requirements.
