WBAL-TV Summer Internship

About the role#

WBAL-TV 11, the NBC affiliate in Baltimore, offers a 12-week paid internship program designed to provide hands-on professional experience in media production. This position reports directly to the Public Affairs Director and requires in-person attendance. The program is administered through a combination of group video conferences and individual shadowing experiences.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured learning program focused on television newsroom operations.
• Engage in in-person shadowing with station staff.
• Attend and participate in group video conferences.
• Support the Public Affairs department in daily operations.

What you'll need#

• Current status as a junior, senior, or graduate student in Communications or Journalism.
• Classroom experience in broadcast journalism and familiarity with a television newsroom.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Critical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail.
• A positive, professional attitude with the ability to demonstrate good judgment and resourcefulness.

• Term: Summer 2026 (May 21, 2026, to August 13, 2026).
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
• Benefits: Accrual of one hour of sick and safe leave for every 30 hours worked.
