WBAL-TV offers a 12-week paid internship program designed to provide students with a hands-on professional learning experience. The program is administered through a combination of group video conferences and individual in-person shadowing. Interns report directly to the Public Affairs Director.
What you'll do#
- Participate in professional learning activities tailored to broadcast media.
- Engage in group video conferences for training and development.
- Shadow industry professionals in an in-person setting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in Communications or Journalism.
- Classroom experience in broadcast journalism and familiarity with a television newsroom.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Critical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail.
- A professional attitude with the ability to demonstrate good judgment and resourcefulness.
Location & details#
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site attendance is required.
- Term: Summer 2026 (May 21, 2026, to August 13, 2026).
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
- Benefits: One hour of sick and safe leave accrued for every 30 hours worked.
