News Intern

About the role#

This internship at WJCL 22 provides an opportunity to understand how a television station functions and the role it plays in the community. Interns will gain exposure to broadcast and digital news operations, technical areas of the station, and live production events. This is a paid, full-time position.

What you'll do#

• Help write and produce newscasts and news stories.
• Contribute to brainstorming and idea generation with News and Creative Services teams.
• Assist with the execution of newscasts.
• Support special events and event planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need#

• An interest in journalism, marketing, videography, writing, and editing.
• Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills.
• Ability to work well under deadlines.
• Versatility to handle a wide range of topics, subjects, and tasks.
• A collaborative approach to teamwork.
• Experience with Adobe applications, camera equipment, and newsroom systems is considered a plus.
• Pursuing studies in Journalism, Communications, or Marketing.
