News Intern

About the role#

This is a paid internship opportunity at WJCL 22, a Hearst Television station serving the Savannah and Hilton Head market. Interns gain practical experience in television station operations, including how news is produced for both broadcast and digital platforms. You will work across departments to understand the technical and creative roles required to serve the local community.

What you'll do#

• Help write and produce newscasts and news stories.
• Contribute to brainstorming and idea generation with the News and Creative Services teams.
• Assist with the execution of live newscasts.
• Support special events and event planning initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program such as Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
• A strong interest in journalism, marketing, videography, writing, and editing.
• Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills.
• Ability to work well under deadlines and handle a wide range of topics and tasks.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team.
