News Intern

About the role#

This paid internship at WJCL 22 provides an opportunity to understand how a television station functions and the role it plays in the community. Interns will gain exposure to broadcast and digital news operations, technical areas of the station, and live production events while working with collaborative teams across multiple departments.

What you'll do#

• Help write and produce newscasts and news stories.
• Contribute to brainstorming and idea generation with News and Creative Services.
• Assist with the execution of newscasts.
• Assist with special events and event planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need#

• An interest in journalism, marketing, videography, writing, and editing.
• Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills.
• The ability to work well under deadlines and be a team player.
• Versatility to handle a wide range of topics, subjects, and tasks.
• Preferred: Experience with Adobe applications, camera equipment, and newsroom systems.
• Preferred majors: Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.

• Terms: Summer 2026 and Fall 2027.
