WBAL-TV 11 offers a 12-week paid internship program designed to provide students with hands-on professional experience in broadcast media. This role reports to the Public Affairs Director and is structured to include both group video conferences and individual in-person shadowing.
What you'll do#
- Participate in group video conferences to engage with the station's operations.
- Engage in individual in-person shadowing experiences to gain direct exposure to a television newsroom.
- Apply classroom knowledge of broadcast journalism to professional tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student majoring in Communications or Journalism.
- Classroom experience in broadcast journalism and familiarity with a television newsroom.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Critical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, and high attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment, resourcefulness, and confidence.
- A positive and professional attitude.
Location & details#
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland (On-site attendance required).
- Term: Summer 2026 (May 21, 2026, to August 13, 2026).
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
- Benefits: One hour of sick and safe leave for every 30 hours worked.
