About the role#
This is a paid internship opportunity with WJCL 22, a Hearst Television station serving the Savannah/Hilton Head market. Interns gain hands-on experience in broadcast and digital news operations, learning how a television station functions and the roles various departments play in serving the local community.
What you'll do#
- Help write and produce newscasts and news stories.
- Contribute to brainstorming and idea generation with News and Creative Services.
- Assist with the execution of newscasts and special event planning.
- Explore newsroom operations and gain an overview of technical station areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a program related to Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
- Strong writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and handle a versatile range of topics and tasks.
- Genuine interest in journalism, marketing, videography, writing, and editing.
- Experience with Adobe applications, camera equipment, and newsroom systems is considered a plus.
