About the role#
This is a paid internship opportunity at WJCL 22, a Hearst Television station serving the Savannah and Hilton Head market. Interns gain practical experience in broadcast and digital news operations, learning how a television station functions and the roles of various departments in delivering news and community programming.
What you'll do#
- Help write and produce newscasts and news stories.
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions with the News and Creative Services teams.
- Assist with the execution of live newscasts.
- Support special events and event planning initiatives.
- Explore technical areas of the station and newsroom operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a field such as Journalism, Communications, or Marketing.
- Strong writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines.
- Versatility to handle a wide range of topics, subjects, and tasks.
- Genuine interest in journalism, marketing, videography, writing, and editing.
- Experience with Adobe applications, camera equipment, or newsroom systems is considered a plus.
