WBAL-TV Summer Internship

About the role#

WBAL-TV 11 offers a 12-week paid internship program designed to provide students with hands-on professional experience in broadcast media. This role reports to the Public Affairs Director and involves a mix of group video conferences and in-person shadowing to help interns understand newsroom operations and television broadcasting. The position is compensated at an hourly rate of $20.00.

What you'll do#

• Participate in group video conferences and individual in-person shadowing experiences.
• Support the Public Affairs Director with various departmental tasks.
• Assist in the production of content related to broadcast journalism.
• Engage with daily newsroom operations to gain insight into the television industry.

What you'll need#

• Current status as a junior, senior, or graduate student.
• Academic background in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
• Classroom experience in broadcast journalism, with preference given to those with prior knowledge of a television newsroom.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment, resourcefulness, and professional attention to detail.
• A positive and professional attitude.

• Location: Baltimore, Maryland.
• Modality: On-site attendance is required.
• Term: Summer 2026 (May 21, 2026, to August 13, 2026).
• Benefits: Paid sick and safe leave accrued at one hour for every 30 hours worked.
