About the role#
WBAL-TV 11 offers a 12-week paid internship program designed to provide students with hands-on professional experience in broadcast media. This role reports to the Public Affairs Director and involves a mix of group video conferences and in-person shadowing to help interns understand newsroom operations and television broadcasting. The position is compensated at an hourly rate of $20.00.
What you'll do#
- Participate in group video conferences and individual in-person shadowing experiences.
- Support the Public Affairs Director with various departmental tasks.
- Assist in the production of content related to broadcast journalism.
- Engage with daily newsroom operations to gain insight into the television industry.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a junior, senior, or graduate student.
- Academic background in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
- Classroom experience in broadcast journalism, with preference given to those with prior knowledge of a television newsroom.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, resourcefulness, and professional attention to detail.
- A positive and professional attitude.

- Term: Summer 2026 (May 21, 2026, to August 13, 2026).
