About the role#
HealthPartners offers a comprehensive medical Music Therapy internship program based in Minnesota. This program provides clinical experience across various medical settings, including inpatient hospitals, cancer centers, hospice care, and rehabilitation programs. Interns work under the supervision of board-certified music therapists to provide patient-centered care. This is a full-time, six-month, 1000-hour commitment.
What you'll do#
- Provide music therapy sessions for patients following AMTA guidelines.
- Determine and apply music therapy approaches to support patient health.
- Document all sessions in the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and perform administrative duties.
- Facilitate both group and individual sessions across multiple clinical sites.
What you'll need#
- Completion of a four-year or Master’s equivalency degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA-approved program.
- Excellent proficiency on piano or guitar, plus good proficiency on one other chordal accompaniment instrument.
- Ability to transport music therapy equipment, such as keyboards and guitars, between locations.
- Ability to provide your own transportation between work sites.
- Ability to complete a criminal background check and health assessment.

- Locations: Saint Louis Park, Bloomington, St. Paul, and Stillwater, Minnesota.
- Terms: Summer 2027 and Fall 2027.
