Med History Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

Regions Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Medication History Intern to support our clinical team. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will gather and document medication histories for admitted patients. This role involves direct interaction with patients and their families, as well as coordination with retail pharmacies and primary clinics to ensure accurate record-keeping.

What you'll do#

• Obtain medication histories through patient interviews and external pharmacy or clinic verification.
• Enter medication history data into the electronic medical record and notify pharmacists upon completion.
• Troubleshoot problems and implement solutions within the pharmacy workflow.
• Assist with assigned projects, excluding duties legally reserved for registered pharmacists.
• Apply knowledge of hospital and retail pharmacy procedures, including prescription filling, dispensing, and billing.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or graduation from an accredited pharmacy program.
• Active registration as a pharmacy intern with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy prior to the start date.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Ability to perform accurate work with high attention to detail.
• Knowledge of professional pharmacy principles, medical terminology, pharmacological classifications, and common outpatient medication forms.
• Proficiency in English and the ability to work independently in a high-volume environment.
