Med History Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Medication History Intern at Regions Hospital, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to obtain and document medication histories for patients admitted to the hospital. You will support the pharmacy team by gathering information and ensuring accurate records are maintained in compliance with state and federal laws.

What you'll do#

• Conduct patient interviews directly or with family members to obtain medication histories.
• Contact retail pharmacies and primary clinics to verify patient medication information.
• Utilize medication history software queries to gather data.
• Enter medication history information into the electronic medical record.
• Communicate the completion of medication histories to pharmacists.
• Complete assigned projects as directed, excluding duties legally restricted to registered pharmacists.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or graduation from an accredited pharmacy program.
• Registration as a pharmacy intern with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy prior to the start date.
• Knowledge of professional pharmacy principles, brand and generic drug terminology, medical terminology, and abbreviations.
• Proficiency in English and strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems, and manage tasks in a high-volume environment.
• Preferred: Students finishing their first or second professional year with the ability to work at least every other weekend and one weeknight per week.

• Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Per diem with an every-third-weekend rotation requirement.
• Compensation: This is a paid internship.
