About the role#
HealthCorps is looking for a mentor to lead the Teens Make Health Happen program in middle and high schools across the Houston area. You will work directly with students to encourage healthier choices and build leadership skills in their schools and neighborhoods. This role involves serving as a near-peer mentor and acting as a representative of the organization in the community.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to deliver programming across school sites.
- Research health inequities and complete needs assessments to measure your impact.
- Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen program.
- Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations at each site.
- Support social media platforms with program highlights, stories, and photos.
- Commit to 8+ hours each week, including 3-4 hours at school sites for instruction.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student majoring in public health, psychology, nutrition, marketing, biology, public policy, education, or social work.
- Good academic standing with your university.
- Ability to travel to assigned sites within the Houston area, including lifting up to 15 pounds when necessary.
- A desire to grow personally and professionally as a leader.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship involving a stipend distributed in monthly installments. College credit may be available depending on university requirements.
