About the role#
HealthCorps is looking for mentors to lead the Teens Make Health Happen program in middle and high schools across the Phoenix, Tolleson, and Chandler areas. You will act as a near-peer mentor, helping students develop leadership skills and make healthier choices for themselves and their families. This is a hybrid role that requires travel to school sites within the Phoenix area.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to deliver programming across two school sites.
- Research health challenges at your assigned schools and track your impact through needs assessments and regular reporting.
- Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen club, committing to at least 8 hours of work per week.
- Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations and support regional events.
- Contribute content to social media platforms, including program highlights, student stories, and photos.
- Represent HealthCorps values and connect students and staff to local health resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in fields such as public health, nutrition, psychology, biology, public policy, marketing, education, or social work.
- Good academic standing at your university.
- Ability to commit 8+ hours per week for the academic year.
- A strong desire to grow as a community leader and comfort presenting health topics to a teen audience.
- Ability to travel up to 40 miles within the Phoenix area and lift up to 15 pounds.

- Terms: Winter 2026 and Summer 2026.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship offering a stipend, with options for college credit depending on university requirements.
