About the role#
HealthCorps is seeking a creative and motivated individual to serve as a near-peer mentor for the Teens Make Health Happen program. In this role, you will work in middle or high schools across the greater Phoenix area to empower students to make healthier choices for themselves and their families. You will act as a catalyst for sustainable change, promoting wellness and creating leadership opportunities for teens at your assigned sites.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective delivery of programming across two school sites.
- Research local health challenges and measure your impact by completing needs assessments, reporting, and tracking your work.
- Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen program, committing to at least 8 hours per week throughout the academic year.
- Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations at each site and support regional events.
- Contribute to social media platforms by sharing program highlights, impact stories, and photos of student activities.
- Represent HealthCorps values and connect teens, staff, and community members to available health resources.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.
- Academic background or interest in public health, public policy, biology, nutrition, marketing, psychology, education, social work, or related fields.
- Ability to commit to 8+ hours per week for the duration of the academic year.
- Desire to grow personally and professionally as a community leader and public speaker comfortable presenting to teen audiences.
- Ability to travel up to 40 miles within the Phoenix area and lift up to 15 pounds.

- Locations: Phoenix, Tolleson, and Chandler, Arizona.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Winter 2026 and Summer 2026.
- Compensation: This is a paid position with a stipend provided. College credit or practicum hours may be available depending on university requirements.
