About the role#
HealthCorps is seeking a mentor to lead the Teens Make Health Happen program in middle and high schools across Oklahoma City. You will serve as a near-peer mentor, empowering students to make healthier choices and act as change agents within their schools and neighborhoods. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public health and education while supporting student-led wellness initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to deliver health programming at 1-4 school sites.
- Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen program, including hosting monthly Café O Yea demonstrations.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify health challenges and track progress throughout the academic year.
- Support outreach by sharing program highlights and impact stories.
- Connect students and staff with relevant local health resources.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training provided by the organization.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in public health, psychology, nutrition, biology, marketing, public policy, education, or social work.
- Good academic standing at your university.
- Ability to commit to 8+ hours per week for the entire academic year.
- Comfort with learning and presenting health-related topics to a teen audience.
- A strong desire for personal and professional growth as a community leader.
- Ability to travel up to 45 miles within the Oklahoma City area and lift up to 15 pounds.
