As a Teens Make Health Happen (TMHH) Mentor, you will serve as a near-peer leader in middle and high schools across Southern Arizona. You will implement wellness programming, facilitate health-focused clubs, and act as a catalyst for sustainable change by empowering teens to make healthier choices for themselves and their families.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective delivery of programming.
- Conduct needs assessments to research health challenges in schools and measure the impact of your work.
- Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen program, committing to at least 8 hours per week.
- Host monthly demonstrations and provide support for regional events.
- Represent HealthCorps and connect teens, staff, and community members to relevant health resources.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in public health, psychology, nutrition, biology, marketing, public policy, education, or social work.
- Must be in good academic standing with your university.
- Ability to commit to 8+ hours each week for the entire academic year.
- Strong desire to grow personally and professionally as a community leader.
- Ability to travel up to 40 miles to assigned school sites.
