Teen Health Education Internship

About the role#

HealthCorps is seeking a mentor to lead the Teens Make Health Happen program in middle and high schools in the Ada, Oklahoma area. This role focuses on empowering students to make healthier choices and fostering leadership skills within their schools and neighborhoods. The position is a paid internship that offers opportunities for professional development and potential college credit.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective delivery of programming.
• Research health challenges facing assigned schools and measure program impact through needs assessments and reporting.
• Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen curriculum, including spending 3-4 hours weekly at school sites for instructional purposes.
• Host monthly health demonstrations and support regional events.
• Promote local health resources to ensure accessibility for students and staff.
• Contribute to organizational outreach by sharing program highlights and impact stories.

What you'll need#

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.
• Academic background or interest in public health, psychology, nutrition, marketing, biology, health administration, public policy, education, or social work.
• Commitment of 8+ hours per week for the duration of the academic year.
• Desire to grow as a community leader and comfort presenting health-related topics to a teen audience.
• Ability to travel up to 60 miles to assigned sites and lift up to 15 pounds.
