About the role#
HealthCorps is seeking a motivated intern to serve as a near-peer mentor and program facilitator in middle and high schools across Southern Ohio. You will act as a catalyst for sustainable change by empowering students to make healthier choices for themselves and their families. This role involves implementing the Teens Make Health Happen program and fostering leadership opportunities for youth in their schools and neighborhoods.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective delivery of programming across 2 to 3 school sites.
- Research local health inequities and measure your impact by completing a needs assessment, reporting, and tracking your work throughout the semester.
- Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen program, dedicating 6 to 8 hours each week to the role.
- Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations at your assigned sites and support regional events.
- Promote health and wellness while creating leadership opportunities for students.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in a field such as public health, psychology, nursing, nutrition, biology, public policy, marketing, education, or social work.
- Good academic standing with your university.
- A commitment of 6 to 8 hours per week for the duration of the Fall 2026 semester.
- A strong desire for personal and professional growth as a community leader.
- Comfort with learning and presenting health-related topics to a teen audience.
- Ability to travel up to 60 miles within the Southern Ohio region and lift up to 15 pounds.

- Locations: Portsmouth, Gallipolis, Goshen, Peebles, and Fayetteville, Ohio.
- Status: Paid internship; college credit is available depending on university requirements.
