Teen Health Education Internship

About the role#

HealthCorps is seeking interns for the Fall 2026 semester to serve as near-peer mentors in middle and high schools across Southern Ohio. This hybrid role focuses on empowering teens to make healthier choices and fostering leadership within their schools and communities. Interns will act as representatives of the organization, working to improve health outcomes and increase access to wellness resources.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to deliver programming across 2–3 school sites.
• Research local health inequities and conduct needs assessments to measure and track your impact.
• Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen program, committing 6–8+ hours per week to the role.
• Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations at your assigned sites and assist with regional events.
• Promote improved health and wellness while creating leadership opportunities for students.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in fields such as Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, Nutrition, Biology, or related disciplines.
• Good academic standing with your university.
• A commitment of 6–8+ hours per week for the duration of the semester.
• A strong desire for personal and professional growth as a community leader.
• Comfort in learning and presenting health-related topics to a teen audience.
• Ability to travel up to 60 miles within the Southern Ohio region and lift up to 15 pounds.

• Locations: Portsmouth, Gallipolis, Goshen, Peebles, and Fayetteville, Ohio.

• Status: Paid internship; college credit may be available depending on university requirements.
