About the role#
As a Structural Engineering Intern at Hatch, you will join the Project Delivery Group in our Pittsburgh office. You will work alongside senior engineers and designers to support projects across the infrastructure, mining, and energy sectors. This role focuses on practical application of your academic training through direct involvement in project design and engineering tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior engineers with project scopes, including reinforced concrete, foundation, and structural steel designs.
- Prepare engineering and capital cost estimates.
- Develop repair methodologies and design repairs for structures or components.
- Apply civil and structural engineering principles to provide efficient solutions to design problems.
- Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Support the preparation of detailed designs and drawings based on technical notes and specifications.
- Coordinate with other technicians and engineers on project teams.
- Gain practical experience through on-site assignments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program in civil engineering at an ABET accredited university.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Knowledge of structural steel and concrete design is a plus.
- Familiarity with AISC and ACI codes is an asset.
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is a plus.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is helpful.
- You must submit a transcript with your application.
