About the role#
Hatch is looking for an intern to join the Environment, People, and Place group. You will report to the Business Practices team while supporting global office projects from our Brooklyn, New York location. This role focuses on creating sustainable, resilient, and community-centered designs. We value in-person collaboration and operate as an in-office environment with some flexibility to work remotely when needed.
What you'll do#
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses, including economic impact studies and benefit-cost assessments.
- Conduct feasibility analyses and market studies for urban development and redevelopment projects.
- Research trends in urbanization, transportation, energy, and economic development.
- Perform socio-economic analyses for infrastructure and real estate policy development.
- Execute urban design, zoning, and land use planning studies.
- Perform environmental engineering analyses related to air, noise, soil, water, and waste management.
- Develop projects that mitigate environmental impacts and prepare technical reports including modeling and calculations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Economics, Urban Planning, Architecture, or Environmental Engineering.
- Demonstrated knowledge of urban planning, real estate, land use, or environmental policy.
- Experience with quantitative modeling and research compilation.
- Strong attention to detail and an outcome-focused mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, with basic familiarity with InDesign.
- An entrepreneurial approach to solving problems under real-world constraints.
Location & details#
- Location: Brooklyn, New York.
- Modality: On-site and hybrid.
- Compensation: $27 to $32 per hour.
- Status: This is a full-time, paid internship. We do not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
