About the role#
Hatch is seeking a Commissioning Intern to join our Business Practices Consulting group. You will work from our Salt Lake City office while supporting global offices. This role focuses on verifying technical readiness and ensuring assets reach peak performance. You will collaborate with senior engineers and designers on complex industrial projects.
What you'll do#
- Support commissioning planning, setup activities, and the development of test plans.
- Provide technical support for data collection and testing during pre-commissioning phases.
- Assist with commissioning estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and proposals.
- Participate in field testing to troubleshoot and optimize equipment performance.
- Process test results and maintain project documentation.
- Coordinate with construction planning teams to align systems with work packages.
- Review P&IDs, flow diagrams, single line diagrams, and network architecture drawings.
- Assist in technology initiatives to improve commissioning efficiency and investigate new software.
- Prepare detailed designs and drawings based on project specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program for electrical, computer, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong report writing, planning, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel to project, supplier, and other Hatch sites as required.
- Experience with Visio or similar tools for workflow mapping is an asset.
- Prior co-op or internship experience in industrial project execution or construction is an asset.
- Submission of an official or unofficial transcript with your application.

- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Modality: On-site and hybrid. We value in-person collaboration and encourage team members to be in the office most of the time.
- Status: Full-time paid internship.
