Student Aide-Advising Services

About the role#

The Student Aide for Advising Services serves as a key member of the office team, acting as a representative of the department. This role involves maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality while assisting students, faculty, staff, and community members. This is a paid, part-time position reporting to the Bilingual Program Assistant.

What you'll do#

• Provide front desk reception coverage and manage general clerical tasks.
• Answer and route incoming phone calls.
• Schedule student appointments using the SARS system.
• Assist office staff with special projects and run errands around campus.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

What you'll need#

• Must be a current Harper College student enrolled in at least six credits per semester (three for summer).
• Preferred majors include Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, or Human Resources.
• Proficiency with computers and the ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.
• Flexibility regarding work hours to accommodate office needs.

Location & details#

• Location: Palatine, Illinois.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Hours vary based on availability. Candidates must have some flexibility to work during office hours, which are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
