The Student Advocate supports after-school programs by monitoring the progress of a caseload of students. This role involves regular collaboration with students, parents, and school staff to develop individualized action plans that foster academic, social, and personal success.
What you'll do#
- Promote academic, social, and personal success for over 25 students.
- Schedule school visits and meet with guidance counselors and teachers to discuss student progress.
- Distribute and review bi-weekly progress reports.
- Schedule weekly advisement and counseling sessions with students.
- Develop curriculum and write lesson plans for career and college prep workshops.
- Maintain student files and draft case notes to document progress.
- Maintain and develop parent involvement for all students.
- Support agency-wide programs and events.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least 1 year of experience working in youth development.
- Knowledge of the New York City school system.
- Ability to effectively engage students.
- Commitment to the mission and programs of Harlem Children's Zone.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 per year.
