About the role#
Join Heritage FS as an Agronomy Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This paid, full-time internship provides hands-on experience in agronomy operations and customer service. You will work directly with agronomy professionals to support farmer-member customers while developing your knowledge of crop production and precision agriculture tools. The role requires travel to various FS locations to build professional relationships and complete project-based work, including weekly reflections and a final end of summer presentation.
What you'll do#
- Support daily agronomy operations and assist professionals in serving farmer-member customers.
- Learn about crop production practices, plant nutrition, and crop protection products.
- Conduct field scouting, monitor crop health, and collect field data.
- Assist with research projects, agronomy trials, and field demonstrations.
- Use precision agriculture technology for data collection and scouting.
- Help with product inventory, receiving, and ordering.
- Participate in grower events, customer visits, and educational opportunities.
- Follow all safety, stewardship, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Travel to build relationships with customers, employees, and industry partners.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree or certification in agriculture from a university, technical college, or community college.
- Good academic standing at the start of the internship.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight trips.
- Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds, work at various heights, and operate in varying weather conditions.
- A CDL license is preferred.
