About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in agronomy operations at Ag-Land FS in Tremont, Illinois. You will work under the direction of location management during the summer of 2027 to learn the foundations of the GROWMARK system and the agriculture industry. This is a full-time position focused on building practical skills and professional connections.
What you'll do#
- Train and assist with general agronomy functions.
- Gain experience in facility and equipment maintenance and repair.
- Visit FS locations and customers to build professional relationships.
- Operate field research and crop monitoring technology for scouting.
- Apply crop nutrition and crop protection products.
- Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory control tasks.
- Complete an operational project designed to improve business efficiencies.
- Submit weekly activity reports.
- Participate in all Exploring Agriculture Internship Program activities.
- Attend the required orientation meeting in Bloomington, Illinois, on May 17-18, 2027.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and company compliance policies, including OSHA and DOT regulations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree or certification program at a community college, technical college, or university.
- Good academic standing.
- Preference is given to students entering their first or second year of college.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, decision making, and customer focus skills.
- A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight trips.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Comfort working in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Willingness to participate in all required training.
