About the role#
Join West Central FS as an Agronomy Intern for the Summer of 2027. You will gain experience supporting agronomy operations and serving farmer-member customers. This role is part of the GROWMARK Internship Program, which features mentorship, professional development, and a capstone project.
What you'll do#
- Support agronomy operations and assist professionals with customer service.
- Learn about crop production, crop protection products, plant nutrition, and agronomic recommendations.
- Conduct field scouting, monitor crop health, and collect field data.
- Assist with agronomy trials, plot work, field demonstrations, and research projects.
- Use precision agriculture tools for scouting and data collection.
- Help with product inventory, ordering, and receiving.
- Attend customer visits, grower events, and educational opportunities.
- Travel to FS locations to build relationships with employees and industry partners.
- Follow safety, stewardship, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Complete a summer internship project and present your findings.
- Participate in all program meetings, including orientation and mid-summer events.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree or certification in Agronomy, Agribusiness, Crop and Soil Science, or a related field.
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
- Valid driver's license.
- Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Comfort working in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
