About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in agronomy operations at AgVantage FS. You will work under the direction of location management to learn the foundation of the GROWMARK system and the agriculture industry. This role is available for the Spring or Summer of 2027 and requires a commitment of at least 9 to 10 weeks. You will also participate in all Exploring Agriculture Internship Program activities, submit weekly reports, and complete an operational project designed to improve business efficiency. A mandatory orientation meeting takes place May 17-18, 2027, in Bloomington, Illinois.
What you'll do#
- Assist with facility and equipment maintenance and repair.
- Visit FS locations and customers to build professional relationships.
- Operate field research and crop monitoring equipment.
- Apply crop nutrition and crop protection products.
- Learn about ordering, receiving, and inventory control processes.
- Follow company policies regarding safety, health, and compliance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or certification program at a community college, technical college, or university.
- Good academic standing at the start of the internship.
- A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to obtain a CDL and a commercial applicator's license.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight trips.
