About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in agronomy and operations at Gateway FS. You will work under the direction of location management to learn the foundations of the GROWMARK system and the broader agriculture industry. The role involves a mix of field work, facility operations, and customer service to help you prepare for a future career in agriculture.
What you'll do#
- Assist with facility maintenance, equipment repairs, and daily housekeeping tasks.
- Support grain operations by helping with receiving, handling, conditioning, storing, and loading grain.
- Participate in petroleum operations through product deliveries, inventory management, and facility inspections.
- Gain exposure to agronomy by performing crop scouting, field observations, and customer support.
- Apply crop nutrition and crop protection products.
- Operate company vehicles and equipment according to safety policies.
- Complete an operational project focused on improving business efficiencies.
- Attend the required orientation meeting in Bloomington, IL, on May 17-18, 2027.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or certification program at a community college, technical college, or university.
- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B Non-CDL license.
- Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in varying weather conditions or at elevated heights.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
