About the role#
As an Agronomy Operations intern, you will train under location management to learn the foundation of the industry. This role focuses on hands-on field work to prepare you for a future career in agriculture. You will participate in the Exploring Agriculture Internship Program, which includes submitting weekly activity reports and completing an operational project to improve business efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
- Visit FS locations and customers to build professional relationships.
- Operate equipment and technology for field research and crop scouting.
- Apply crop nutrition and crop protection products.
- Gain experience with ordering, receiving, and inventory control.
- Follow safety policies, including OSHA and DOT procedures.
- Attend the mandatory orientation meeting in Bloomington, IL, on May 17-18, 2027.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or certification program at a community college, technical college, or university with good academic standing.
- Ability to obtain a CDL and a commercial applicator’s license with required endorsements.
- A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Ability to travel independently, including overnight stays when necessary.
