About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in agronomy operations at Southern FS during the summer of 2027. You will work under the direction of location management to learn the foundations of the GROWMARK system and the agriculture industry. The role requires a commitment of 9-10 weeks and participation in all program activities, including an orientation meeting in Bloomington, Illinois, on May 17-18, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
- Visit FS locations and customers to build professional relationships.
- Operate technology and equipment for field research and crop scouting.
- Apply crop protection and nutrition products.
- Gain experience with inventory control, receiving, and ordering processes.
- Complete an operational project designed to improve business efficiency.
- Submit weekly activity reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or certification program at a university, technical college, or community college.
- A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Ability to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
- Preference is given to candidates with or willing to obtain a CDL license.
