About the role#
Join Southern FS as an Agronomy Intern for the Summer of 2027. You will gain hands-on experience supporting agronomy operations and serving farmer-member customers. This role includes participation in the GROWMARK Internship Program, which provides professional development, networking, and a capstone project.
What you'll do#
- Support agronomy operations and assist professionals in the field.
- Conduct field scouting activities to monitor crop health and collect data.
- Assist with agronomy trials, plot work, research projects, and field demonstrations.
- Use precision agriculture tools and technology for data collection.
- Manage product inventory, including ordering and receiving tasks.
- Participate in customer visits, grower events, and educational opportunities.
- Travel to various locations to build relationships with employees and industry partners.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or certification program at a community college, technical college, or university.
- A strong interest in agronomy, crop production, and agriculture.
- A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Comfort working in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
Location & details#
- Location: Marion, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027, with a minimum 12-week commitment starting by May 24, 2027.
- Compensation: $19 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Status: Full-time.
- Required Events: Orientation (May 24-25, 2027), Mid-Summer Meeting (June 28-30, 2027), and Conclusion Meeting (August 11-12, 2027).
