    About the role#

    The Catastrophe Modeling & Data Analytics Intern will join the Reinsurance Division for the Fall 2026 term. This internship provides hands-on experience in catastrophe modeling, data engineering, and visualization by working alongside experienced modelers and analysts on real-world projects.

    What you'll do#

    • Modeling & Geospatial Analysis: Evaluate catastrophe risk using modeling software and identify high-risk regions.
    • SQL & Data Engineering: Update and maintain databases, tables, and queries. Review and maintain data engineering code in Python and consolidate redundant reference tables.
    • Visualization & Reporting: Create Tableau or Power BI dashboards and map events such as wildfires, hurricanes, and earthquakes for visual insights.
    • Process Optimization: Streamline repeatable modeling processes and apply Python for automation and data preparation tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Proficiency with Excel.
    • A willingness to learn SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Python.
    • Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
