About the role#
As a Project Engineer Intern at Graycor, you will work on a commercial construction site to gain hands-on experience. You will receive one-on-one training, coaching, and mentoring throughout the summer. You will actively manage your career development by assessing your progress against core competencies.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with project control and management.
- Ensure safety and quality programs are followed on site.
- Develop and maintain the critical path project schedule.
- Prepare short-term look-ahead schedules and apply Lean Construction techniques.
- Manage project documentation and expedite approvals from owners, architects, and engineers.
- Develop a thorough understanding of contract documents, including plans, specifications, and purchase orders.
- Assist with the procurement of equipment and materials, including tracking and expediting deliveries.
- Track and evaluate the performance of subcontractors and vendors.
- Interact with subcontractors and vendors on technical and contractual matters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, civil engineering, industrial engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Ability to travel extensively and reside at the project site for the duration of the summer.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to juggle competing priorities and multitask with a sense of urgency.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with managers, coworkers, and craft employees.
- Ambition to grow professionally and a motivation to succeed.
