About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Pleasanton, California. You will work on-site to support a materials sales representative. The role focuses on helping build and maintain relationships with potential buyers while learning how to execute business development plans. You will gain exposure to the sales process within the construction materials industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist in identifying and developing prospects from current clients and referrals.
- Learn to prepare reports on sales pipelines, forecasts, and market trends.
- Provide input on client programs and marketing initiatives.
- Help the sales team gather market information on competitors including sand, gravel, and asphalt suppliers.
- Collaborate with the team to interface with subcontractors, agencies, and owners' representatives.
- Support corporate safety initiatives and follow company codes of conduct.
- Assist in implementing strategic marketing plans and sales objectives.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma and at least two years of post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office products.
- Ability to manage and prioritize resources and projects.
- Good customer service, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Capability to generate leads and close deals.
- Ability to work in a high production environment.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to drive for extended periods.
- Previous sales experience is a plus.
