About the role#
This is a summer internship assignment where you will assist a project team with management, field construction activities, and documentation. You will gain experience in the heavy-civil industry while supporting ongoing infrastructure projects. This position is full-time and based on-site.
What you'll do#
- Communicate with foremen and superintendents to support field construction operations.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, and the local community.
- Assist the project engineer with approving timecards in Heavy Job and ensure all employee and equipment time is accounted for accurately.
- Verify quantities in Field Information Systems and log them for cost and revenue tracking.
- Generate and distribute daily cost reports to the project manager, foreman, and superintendent.
- Complete daily reports documenting Intermountain Slurry Seal and subcontractor activities.
- Place material orders, survey requests, and locate requests.
- Calculate yields for materials such as concrete, aggregate base, and asphalt.
- Support the jobsite daily to verify claimed quantities and track overall job progress.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Construction, Engineering, or related undergraduate program at an accredited 4-year university.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a high production environment and respond effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Availability and willingness to travel frequently.
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred.
