About the role#
The Grainger Technology Group (GTG) internship is a 10-week, paid program based in our Chicago office. You will work alongside security analysts, engineers, and architects to protect our technology, data, and operations. This is a full-time role where you contribute to real security outcomes rather than standalone exercises.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the Grainger environment for signs of compromise and assist with incident response.
- Support proactive security program processes, including asset inventories and platform monitoring.
- Review vulnerability management findings and track remediation efforts.
- Gain hands-on exposure to SIEM platforms for alert triage, log analysis, and threat detection.
- Explore the use of AI-enabled research, prompt engineering, scripting, and automation to improve security workflows.
- Document processes and communicate technical recommendations to team members.
What you'll need#
- Expected bachelor's degree graduation between December 2026 and June 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Foundational knowledge of networking, operating systems, and cloud or infrastructure concepts.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts like log analysis, vulnerability management, or incident response.
- Strong critical thinking skills and an interest in learning new security tools and workflows.
