Communications Internship

About the role#

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a Communications Intern to join the Department of Natural Resources. This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience in government communications, project management, and public opinion research while supporting initiatives related to the management and conservation of provincial natural resources.

What you'll do#

• Provide communications support, including the development of content for news releases, social media, fact sheets, backgrounders, messages, and speeches.
• Assist with social media account planning and management, as well as event planning.
• Support project management and government procurement processes.
• Conduct analysis of public opinion research results and assist in the development of related reports.
• Respond to internal inquiries and collaborate with communications professionals.

What you'll need#

• Completion of a post-secondary degree, diploma, or graduate certificate in public relations, communications, or marketing within the last three years.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Experience with social media strategies, communications plans, and content creation for digital and social channels.
• Ability to consider the perspectives of diverse stakeholders, including an understanding of Nova Scotia’s social, historical, and demographic context.
• Strong organizational skills, initiative, creativity, and a focus on client service.
• Assets include previous government experience and French language skills.
