About the role#
GlobalFoundries is seeking a Reliability Engineering Intern to support the development and qualification of Silicon Photonics technologies. You will work alongside experienced engineers to evaluate CMOS devices and photonic components, including waveguides, modulators, photodetectors, and lasers. This role involves data analysis, failure-mechanism studies, and lifetime modeling to ensure the quality of our semiconductor products.
What you'll do#
- Design and evaluate reliability test structures for CMOS and Silicon Photonics devices.
- Execute reliability stress tests, laboratory measurements, and characterization activities.
- Collect, validate, and analyze reliability data to identify trends for engineering teams.
- Develop reliability models, statistical analyses, and lifetime projections.
- Conduct literature reviews on degradation mechanisms and failure modes.
- Investigate device reliability concerns and support hardware planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technology Development and Manufacturing.
- Document experimental methods and prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as at least a sophomore in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program.
- Major in Photonics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Applied Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA and good academic standing.
- Basic understanding of semiconductor device physics.
- Ability to analyze technical data and solve engineering problems.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
