About the role#
The Circuit Design team in Austin is looking for an intern for Summer 2027. You will work on block-level physical design and RTL analysis to help evaluate semiconductor technologies. This role involves benchmarking power, performance, and area for complex cores.
What you'll do#
- Perform block-level place and route for complex cores using standard-cell and memory-library IP.
- Run RTL simulation and verification flows to confirm core implementation.
- Apply circuit-design techniques to optimize standard-cell logic.
- Develop and maintain Tcl and Perl scripts to automate design workflows and data collection.
- Conduct block-level design studies to optimize IP for Edge AI and automotive applications.
- Use industry-standard CAD and electronic design automation tools for VLSI implementation and debugging.
- Maintain safety and follow all environmental and security protocols.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least a sophomore and actively pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA and good academic standing are required.
- You must be fluent in English and able to work 40 hours per week.
- Experience with UNIX operating systems is necessary.
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills are required.
- Preferred candidates have prior internship experience or demonstrated leadership in school projects.
- Coursework or research experience in VLSI design, physical design, or RTL simulation is a plus.
- Familiarity with Tcl, Perl, and CAD/EDA tools is beneficial.
- An interest in using AI tools to streamline workflows is encouraged.
