About the role#
Ghafari Associates is hiring a Structural Engineering intern for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in our Chicago office. You will work under the direction of project engineers to apply design knowledge and software skills to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Create engineering documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Collaborate with engineers during the design phase to determine project data needs and guidelines.
- Provide limited design input and detail documents based on engineer feedback.
- Make corrections and prepare final documents for review.
- Check for the integration of sections and coordination across different disciplines.
- Resolve document coordination and production issues with the engineering team.
- Produce drawings and 3D digital design models.
- Deploy team-oriented problem solving and perform related tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Civil, Mechanical, Computer, or Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of at least two years of coursework.
- Working proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to take initiative and follow direction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.

- Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $23.00 to $26.00 per hour, plus paid holidays.
