About the role#
Gerdau North America is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to join our team in Selkirk, Manitoba. This position offers hands-on experience within our Engineering or Maintenance and Reliability teams, specifically supporting our Melt Shop or Rolling Mill operations. You will work on various projects, gain exposure to industrial processes, and receive on-the-job training.
What you'll do#
- Update equipment and facility drawings.
- Assist engineers with capex improvement projects.
- Manage smaller non-capex projects.
- Coordinate with outside vendors, consultants, and contractors.
- Plan maintenance jobs and manage parts ordering.
- Execute design projects.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years of a Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized university.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5, though 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Experience with SolidWorks design software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and learn quickly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Leadership experience in student organizations or extra-curricular activities.
