About the role#
The Human Resources Intern provides administrative and operational support to the HR team at George J. Igel & Co., Inc. You will gain hands-on experience across multiple HR functions while assisting with day-to-day activities. This position reports to the HR Generalist and follows a schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
What you'll do#
- Support recruiting tasks like posting jobs, reviewing resumes, and coordinating interviews.
- Assist with new hire orientation and the onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Maintain employee records and update HR databases.
- Help with FMLA, benefit administration, and answering employee questions.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and internal communications.
- Handle general administrative duties including filing, data entry, and scheduling.
- Support departmental projects such as employee engagement and policy updates.
- Interact professionally with employees while following company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a two or four-year undergraduate program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak publicly.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A valid Motor Vehicle Record that meets company insurance requirements.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances.
Location & details#
- Location: Columbus, Ohio.
- This role is primarily on-site with hybrid work capabilities.
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
- This position requires daily travel to the primary workplace and occasional travel to off-site locations like job sites.
