About the role#
This internship provides a practical learning experience for students pursuing degrees in engineering or materials science. You will work under the supervision of a mentor to assist with projects related to process improvement, product testing, data analysis, and technical documentation. This role offers exposure to manufacturing processes, quality systems, and research initiatives to help you develop your technical and professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Support technical projects involving process optimization, testing, or data collection.
- Conduct laboratory or production floor work under supervision.
- Assist engineers with data entry, equipment setup, sampling, and experimental trials.
- Collect and analyze operational or experimental data to support process improvement initiatives.
- Document results, observations, and technical reports in accordance with Geon standards.
- Participate in problem-solving sessions and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, and Operations.
- Prepare presentations or summaries of technical findings for internal review.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all EH&S guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Materials Science engineering.
- Strong academic performance in technical coursework.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, product development, or testing methods.
- Ability to apply analytical and technical thinking.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Technical curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools, systems, and technologies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal collaboration abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Detail-oriented and capable of following procedures and safety guidelines.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Previous internship, co-op, or laboratory experience is preferred.
