About the role#
As a Simulation intern, you will work with senior engineers to design and launch simulation features for GM validation teams. You will meet with customers to understand their needs, turn those requirements into technical specifications, and deliver code on our simulation platform. The team builds products that enable the development of autonomous vehicles and general vehicle software. Your work will support AV developers, data engineers, and release teams.
What you'll do#
- Ramp up on the assigned codebase and system.
- Meet with customers to learn about their workflows and how you can assist them.
- Complete tasks efficiently with few iterations.
- Develop, test, and deploy production-ready code for simulation infrastructure.
- Identify problem statements, outline solutions, and account for edge cases.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design sessions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software integration.
- Communicate across multiple stakeholders and consult senior developers when needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, engineering, or a related STEM field.
- At least one academic term remaining after the internship concludes.
- Experience coding in Python or C++.
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the 12-week summer period.
- Preferred: Pursuing a Master's degree in a relevant STEM field.
- Preferred: Experience through internships, coding competitions, or publications.
- Preferred: Background in robotics, ROS, game engines like Unreal, or the AV/ADAS industry.
- Preferred: Knowledge of data pipelines or building developer productivity tools.
- Preferred: Ability to develop software under latency constraints or familiarity with safety-critical code.

- Location: Sunnyvale, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid (expected to be on-site at least three times per week).
- Compensation: $8,100 - $9,600 per month.
