About the role#
The Manufacturing Metallurgist internship provides hands-on experience in materials testing and process management. You will work within a metallurgical laboratory, supporting production and heat treating operations. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027, requiring you to work on-site at a manufacturing facility.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine metallurgical and physical analysis of materials used in products and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct chemical and physical tests using precision laboratory equipment, such as hardness testers, microscopes, and image analysis systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production and maintenance teams in heat treating areas.
- Audit metallurgical processes to ensure they meet defined requirements.
- Input raw data into results databases and prepare written reports based on your analysis.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure safety and housekeeping standards are met.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science Engineering.
- Expected graduation date between August 2027 and June 2029.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Willingness to work in a plant environment.

- Physical requirements: You must be able to walk and stand for long periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in a loud, non-climate controlled manufacturing environment. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, ear plugs, and safety shoes.
