About the role#
GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy is seeking students for a Summer 2027 internship to support our licensing team. This role focuses on the design and regulatory requirements for new reactor technology. You will work on technical assignments in the power generation industry while receiving training and mentorship from experienced engineers and managers.
What you'll do#
- Receive technical training and mentorship.
- Grow your technical expertise in your chosen field.
- Focus on codes and standards, regulatory requirements, and systems design for new reactor licensing.
- Prepare reports, databases, and presentations.
- Solve problems, implement initiatives, and collaborate with your team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in engineering, science, project management, or business administration.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus experience with SharePoint or SmartSheet.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a desire to advance nuclear power generation.
- Ability to lead teams and engage with stakeholders while maintaining compliance with cost, quality, and schedule.
- Experience with tools like MATLAB or AutoCAD is helpful.
- Previous co-op or internship experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position located in Wilmington, North Carolina.
- The internship term runs from May 2027 through August 2027.
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
