The World News Internship – Fall 2026

About the role#

The World is a nationally distributed weekday radio public affairs program co-produced by GBH and PRX. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside broadcast professionals to learn the intricacies of reporting and producing audio stories. Interns will gain hands-on experience by contributing to daily radio production, digital platforms, social media, and YouTube content.

What you'll do#

• Assist producers and editors with the daily editorial process.
• Develop original story ideas.
• Conduct research across all news beats.
• Organize and secure stories from the audio library.
• Write and prepare stories for the web.
• Create content for social media platforms and YouTube.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
• Experience with Adobe Audition, Creative Cloud software, or similar editing tools.
• A genuine interest in global issues related to culture, science, and history.
• Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and apply them to daily tasks.
• Strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and capacity to manage multiple projects.
• Must have personal access to a computer and Wi-Fi.
• Must have valid work authorization for the United States.

Location & details#

• Term: Fall 2026 (September 14th to December 4th).
• Status: Paid internship ($17/hour), part-time.
• Modality: Remote and hybrid. Hybrid staff are expected to work onsite in Massachusetts at least two days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
• Preferred Majors: Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Political Science, or Sociology.
