GBH News "All Things Considered" Internship - Fall 2026

About the role#

The GBH News "All Things Considered" internship provides an opportunity to learn the operations of a local broadcast show. Interns work directly with producers to understand the lifecycle of a program, from pitching ideas and booking guests to editing audio and supporting live show production. This is a paid, part-time position for the Fall 2026 term.

What you'll do#

• Monitor local news to pitch story ideas and identify potential guests.
• Write scripts, including introductions and interview questions.
• Assist the producer and host during live broadcasts.
• Identify additional stories for newscasts during live shows.
• Create content management system (CMS) entries for aired debriefs.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
• Ability to write clear, accurate news copy under deadline pressure.
• Proficiency in writing newscast and script-quality copy using AP Style with proper attribution.
• Strong knowledge of current events and government leaders at the local, state, and national levels.
• Familiarity with recording equipment and editing software is preferred.
• Candidates must provide their own computer and Wi-Fi access.

• Location: Boston, Massachusetts (Hybrid).
• Term: September 14, 2026 – December 4, 2026.
• Work Modality: Hybrid. Staff are required to work onsite a minimum of two days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
• Compensation: $17.00 per hour.
