NOVA Broadcast Research Internship - Fall 2026

About the role#

The NOVA Broadcast Research Internship offers students the opportunity to work alongside the editorial staff, including Science Editors, Associate Researchers, and Producers. Interns contribute to specific film projects throughout the semester, gain experience in research and development for broadcast television, and learn how NOVA approaches science storytelling from start to finish. You will also have the opportunity to learn about digital video production, media rights and licensing, and audience development.

What you'll do#

• Fact-check film scripts.
• Research storylines for upcoming programs.
• Identify potential sources to interview for documentaries.
• Review films for potential acquisition and rebroadcast.
• Participate in editorial meetings.
• Develop ideas for future programs and assist other teams as needed.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and self-motivation.
• Ability to work effectively on deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Interest in science, technology, research, and communications.
• Majors in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Psychology, Political Science, or History are preferred.
• Must have work authorization for the United States, your own computer, and access to Wi-Fi.

Location & details#

• Term: Fall 2026 (September 14 to December 5).
• Modality: Hybrid (requires working onsite in Boston, Massachusetts, at least two days per week).
• Compensation: Paid position at $17 per hour, part-time at 20 hours per week.
